Top award for EDP business guide
The EDP Business Guide came away with top honours in the Newspaper Society's national advertising and digital media awards - one of five trophies won by the Archant Norfolk team.
The Business Guide - an annual snapshot of the regional economy and list of East Anglia's top 75 businesses, sponsored by Mills & Reeve, PwC, Royal Bank of Scotland and Shaping Norfolk's Future - won the gold award in the best business supplement category.
Gary Attfield, general manager of the Archant Norfolk sales team, said: “To think that this supplement was judged as the best in the UK by a top panel of judges says a lot about the quality of what we produce here in Norfolk. Our supplements have been part of our programme of adding value to key sectors like business and we work closely with business editor Paul Hill and his team in producing our initiatives.
“We are fortunate in attracting significant sponsorship from blue- chip clients who are keen to develop stronger community links with the vibrant business scene here in Norfolk as well as helping to promote the exceptional work produced by local companies.”
The EDP also won two silver awards: the first in the best public- sector advertising initiative, which was won by the Your Rubbish, Your Choice supplement, produced in association with Norfolk's Waste Management Partnership.
The second silver award was for the EDP's successful online local business directory in the Newspaper Society's alternative advertisement revenue stream of the year category.
The directory is one of a range of new digital products launched recently to help local businesses get the most from the online world.
Phil Nicholls, manager of the local business directory, said: “Many of our local customers have invested heavily in their own websites, and we wanted to make sure their sites were easy to find by local people who are keen to use a local firm.”
The EDP won a bronze in the best niche website category for the website Jobs24 - the market leader for local recruiters, attracting more than 3.6 million page impressions each month.
The second bronze was won by the Yarmouth Mercury in the niche publication of the year category for their fundraising support publication for the RNLI called “For those in Peril”.
Another Archant title, The Herts Advertiser, won a gold award for the best retail advertisement for a local optician
