Go Asian!

SINGAPORE LAND OF PROMISE

The opportunity to gain lucrative contracts in Singapore is up for grabs as local companies are invited to echo the success of Norfolk businesses who have successfully participated in earlier Offshore South East Asia (OSEA) exhibitions.

The trip is being organised by Great Yarmouth Marketing Initiative (GYMI), and is open to all companies in the area in the offshore industry looking for new business in the South East Asia market.

Held bi-annually, OSEA 2006 saw success for Great Yarmouth company Applied Acoustics Engineering who saw business growth of 200% thanks to a significant number of new contacts, while Norwich’s ATB-Laurence Scott gained two contracts.

ATB-Laurence Scott’s new business came as a direct result of face to face discussions with a compressor packaging company based in Singapore, which also has a wholly owned manufacturing unit to cover the Middle East, based in Dubai.

The two contracts had a combined total in excess of £1.1 million pounds and can be directly attributed to being able to hold discussions whilst at OSEA.

The experience for ATB-Laurence Scott was so good that it had little hesitation in signing up for this year’s event.

“Exhibiting with GYMI is very easy and saves us a lot of time.” said business development manager, Colin Marney. ‘’It enables us to concentrate on the customers we can visit whilst in territory, knowing the stand is being professionally managed in our absences.’’

“We also found it valuable to be a part of a group of similarly market minded but non-competitive companies, as we feel this can provide spin off benefits.”

“We have space for another company to join ATB-Laurence Scott, Aquaterra Energy, Norfolk Capacitators and Gardline Marine Sciences,” said GYMI’s Stephanie Pimlott the trip’s organiser.

“Our 12-square-metre stand is part of the UK group organised by the Energy Industries Council, and this is the fourth time GYMI has taken a group to OSEA.

“GYMI organises everything for participating companies from arranging transport of freight to manning the stand to allow meetings with potential clients.

“Joining us in Singapore can cost as little as £1,000 and we are hoping that there may also be access to grants through UK Trade and Investment.”

OSEA  will be held at Suntec exhibition centre, Singapore, from December 2-5.
